Software from Switzerland.
23north makes two products: northOS, with which small businesses quote, plan, invoice and take bookings — and SEANA, the app that tells sailors which bay gives shelter in which wind.

An appointment, a contract, a salary statement.
Each plugin produces something the business can hold: appointments booked online, contracts signed on the phone, hours from time tracking, galleries shared via a link without an account.

Plugins of its own
What only one business needs
becomes a plugin of its own for it. It hooks in through the same points and leaves the core as it is. That is how the terminal we run SEANA with is built.
-
How we work
Cloud or your own server.
northOS runs the same in our cloud and on a server at your business. SEANA’s accounts and content are stored in a data centre in Zurich.
In Switzerland, wherever possible
- Data centre in Zurich
- Website on Infomaniak, Switzerland
- Your own server, no feature less
- Built with the people who use it
-
SEANA
The bay app for sailors.
From the shape of the bay, the fetch, the terrain and the forecast, BaySense works out a rating from 0 to 100 for every hour, on the device, even offline.
As of 26 September 2026
- 57,600 places on the map
- 748 bays with a profile
- 5 languages in the app
- Trips and crew with a shared kitty

northOS In development
Business software for small companies. A core that every business has — and plugins for what it does.
The core
What every company needs is there before any line of business is booked. The core does not know what an invoice or an order is — the plugins bring that with them.
- Sign-in
- With a code by email, for the team and for customers.
- Roles and permissions
- Every function checks a permission first. Roles are bundles of them that the business puts together itself.
- Log
- Records what was done in the terminal; every plugin adds its own actions.
- Search
- One search across everything — every plugin contributes its results.
- Overview
- Figures and open items from the booked plugins on one page.
- One database per business
- A business’s data lives in its own database, not next to anyone else’s.
- Cloud or your own server
- Runs the same in our cloud and on a server in your own building.
- Your own brand
- The business’s logo, colour and sign-in screen, at its own address.
- Swiss law
- Where it matters, the plugins work the way it applies here: QR-bill, VAT, payroll deductions, retention periods.
23 plugins.
Book what you need.
Each plugin is one line of business with its own tables, its own permissions and its own entries in the sidebar. No plugin reads another’s tables; they connect through extension points managed by the core. If one is missing, only its button is missing.
Selling and invoicing
- Quotes
- From templates, with variants and items the customer switches on and off. Accepted through a link, then turned into an order or invoice with one click. Builds on Finance and Invoices.
- Invoices
- Swiss QR-bill as a PDF, from an order, a quote or from scratch, with the status open, paid, reminded. Booked in the background. Builds on Finance.
- Payments
- Import the bank statement (camt.053), match payments by their QR reference automatically, send reminders for overdue invoices. Builds on Finance.
- Finance
- Double-entry bookkeeping under Swiss law: chart of accounts, receivables, payables, fixed costs, VAT and reports.
- Subscriptions and revenue
- Subscriptions from RevenueCat and Stripe and the revenue per month, straight into Finance if you like.
Working and planning
- Orders
- Customer, status, dates, tasks and services with prices. An enquiry from the website becomes an order with one click.
- Appointments and online booking
- Customers book free time slots themselves, with confirmation, reminder and calendar file; they reschedule or cancel through their link.
- Bookings
- Berths, guests and their boats: who arrives and leaves today, what is free and what it costs — for marinas, harbours and winter storage.
- Campsite
- Pitches, tents and rentals: occupancy plan, reception with check-in, guest registration and tourist tax — and a site map drawn from a drone photo.
- Marina and mooring field
- Berths and buoys: occupancy plan, reception with check-in, guest registration and tourist tax — and an animated harbour map with arrivals, departures and swing circles.
- Contracts
- From templates, the text fixed with a checksum, signed electronically by both sides — the other party on their phone, without an account.
Customers and mail
- Customer area
- A space of their own for customers, signed in with a code. It shows what the other plugins put there: galleries, orders, quotes, invoices.
- Forms
- Enquiry, survey or registration for the website, with conditions, file upload and spam protection. Submissions land in the terminal.
- Photo library
- Photos and files in one place, as an album or gallery. Shared through a link without an account, with selection and a note per picture if you like.
- The email queue: system mail, transactional mail and marketing kept strictly apart, the newsletter only with double opt-in.
Team and staff
- Time tracking
- On the phone, even offline, with a stopwatch. Weeks or months are approved, the job report signed, the hours go into the invoice.
- Payroll and staff
- Employment and payroll runs with deductions under Swiss law, payslips and salary certificates as PDF. Builds on Finance.
- Recruiting
- Job openings, a careers page and applications by stage; a talent pool with consent and deletion under the Data Protection Act.
Running and growing
- Support
- The line to us: requests with their status, the booked package with usage, a notice during outages or maintenance. Builds on Mail.
- Growth
- Waiting list, survey, push notifications, partner enquiries and applications for a business account.
- Advertising
- Ad slots, campaigns with creatives, advertisers and reports; the line items go to Finance.
- Testers and influencers
- Test accounts with individual unlocks, a tester programme with limited places, affiliate codes.
- Moderation
- Reports, cases with a user file, support chat and content review — for every business whose users publish something.
What only a single business needs becomes a plugin of its own for it. It hooks in through the same points and leaves the core as it is. That is how the terminal we run SEANA with is built: northOS with three plugins of its own.
northOS is not finished yet and so far runs for SEANA and one first business. We are looking for small companies that want to join early and help decide what it needs in daily work. Prices on request.
The anchorage app for sailors.
Bays
Bays and anchorages in the Adriatic: shelter by wind direction, seabed and depths — recorded by sailors who have anchored there.
BaySense
From the shape of the bay, the fetch in each direction, the terrain around it and the forecast, BaySense calculates a rating from 0 to 100 for every hour — on the device, even without a connection.
Trips
Recorded in the app, even without reception: the points wait on the phone and follow once there is a signal again. Read back in the browser.
Crew
Shopping list, what to bring, who is aboard when — and a ship’s kitty that splits expenses so nobody has to do the maths at the end.
- places on the map
- 57,600
- bays with a profile
- 748
- languages in the app
- 5
As of 26 September 2026, counted in the SEANA database. The map runs in the browser; the app for iPhone and Android is currently being tried out with testers.
How we work
-
In Switzerland, wherever possible.
SEANA’s accounts and content are stored in a data centre in Zurich; the website and web app run on an Infomaniak server in Switzerland. Where a service abroad is needed, for push notifications for example, it is listed in SEANA’s privacy policy (German).
-
On your own server, if you want.
northOS is being built to run the same way in our cloud and on a server at your business. Keeping your data in house does not cost you a single feature.
-
With the people who use it.
SEANA is made with sailors who report bays, test the app and tell us what is missing. northOS is meant to come about the same way: together with a business, not at a desk.
What we build with: TypeScript, React Native with Expo, React, PostgreSQL with PostGIS, Supabase, H3, MapLibre, Deno and Caddy.
Write to us.
Questions about SEANA, interest in northOS or something else entirely — an email is all it takes.
